Do you want to know who holds the know-how of fruit growing in Mauritius? Follow the guide...

vergers labourdonnais

If you are walking in Mapou, in the north of Mauritius, there is a good chance that you will come to the end of a path, at the edge of a very extensive plantation of orchards, on 45 hectares.

Planted since 1975, you will find multiple tropical fruits: mangoes, guavas, papayas, avocados, lychees, and citrus fruits.

They are intended for the production of jams, fruit pastes, juices and sorbets for the local and international market.

But what estate holds this know-how in fruit crops, which has become the largest fruit producer on the island, and one of the greatest pride of Mauritians? Fruits labourdonnais

A flagship brand of Mauritian know-how.

Following the creation of a historic collection orchard under the leadership of Christian Wiehe, now commercial orchards are the heart of the famous Domaine de Labourdonnais.

And it is under the brand Les Vergers de Labourdonnais that the estate produces and processes around two thousand tons of fruit annually, to obtain a range of unique products.

Imagine in 1995, a small room at the bottom of a house where food made from fruit from these orchards is made, according to artisanal methods, and authentic recipes.

The modernization of the plant in 2007 was not done at the expense of the natural color and taste of the fruit.
